Former Carolina Celtic Makes It Big

MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Timberwolves have taken former Carolina Celtic and Clemson forward Trevor Booker with the 23rd overall pick in the draft.
Booker is the first senior to be drafted in the 2010 class. The 6-foot-7, 236-pound Booker is a physical presence. He averaged 15.2 points and 8.4 rebounds for the Tigers last year.
If the Timberwolves decide to keep him, their 2010 class will be on the older side. The Wolves drafted Syracuse forward Wesley Johnson with the fourth overall pick. Johnson will turn 23 in July.
The Wolves also took Nevada shooter Luke Babbitt at No. 16 and dealt him to Portland for Martell Webster, according to a person familiar with the deal. Minnesota also has two second-round picks.

Former Celtic Wins SC Mr. Basketball

Gaffney, SC- The prep basketball season has been over for nearly a month but the accolades haven’t stopped for the former Celtic & Gaffney High School standout Josh Corry. Corry earned the state’s most coveted Mr. Basketball from the South Carolina High School Sports Report.

Corry averaged 20.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2 assists in leading the Indians to a state championship. Corry, one of the state’s top shooters, made 42 percent of his 3-pointers and 86 percent of his free throws.
